About the Speakers:
Anil Shukla (Phd, C. Eng, FIET), QinetiQ
Anil leads the Cognitive Radio research work being conducted within QinetiQ. He has chaired the 2008 and 2010 IET events on Cognitive Radios and has been involved in the concepts of cognitive radios and dynamic spectrum management at frequencies from 2 MHz to 3 GHz for over 15 years. He also provides consultancy research on the operation of radio systems in difficult environments and suggests innovative risk mitigation techniques for commercial and government customers. He has worked at QinetiQ for over 20 years, where he has been a QinetiQ Account Manager and a Technical Group Manager. He obtained his degree in Physics from Nottingham University and his Phd in “Meteor Scatter Communications” from Leicester University. He is a Fellow of the IET.

Heikki Rantanen, Finnish Defence Forces Technical Research Centre
Heikki Rantanen is Principal Scientist in Finnish Defence Forces Technical Research Centre. He has been working in Finnish SDR program from the early beginning. During the last few years, in some way or other, he has been involved with all important European SDR Programs like ESSOR, ETARE, WOLF etc. Currently he works in COALWNW and ESSOR programs as FIN PoC in technical matters.
Heikki has worked in Finnish Defence Forces since 1987, first as a teacher in Signals School, then as a Project Engineer in Material Command, and since 1998 as Researcher in Finnish Defence Forces Technical Research Centre. During the years 2006 and 2007 he worked as short-term Seconded National Expert in European Defence Agency (EDA).
Heikki received a M.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering in 1986 from the Tampere University of Technology.
