Software Defined Radio is now reality and is the basis of all new military tactical communications programmes. The multi-waveforms capability of SDR and portability of waveforms across radio platforms are among the first benefits of this new generation SDR. After several years of development, and several programmes worth of experience, it is time to take opportunity to review outputs and give perspective in this field.

The Wireless Innovation Forum’s SCA Implementers Group has undertaken a project to identify the latest developments and trends in the field of waveform portability in SCA based standards. The project strives to provide a common understanding of the main challenges involved in application portability using SCA based architectures, with an overall goal of reducing the cost, effort and time needed to perform the porting of waveforms among different processing architectures (i.e: DSP, FPGA, GPP).

In addition to the workshop (agenda below), the following groups will also be meeting:

    • SCA Implementers Work Group (Waveform Portability Project)
    • SCA Test and Evaluation Work Group
    • SCA 4.1 Project Groups
      • Backwards Compatibility
      • AEP
      • IDL Profiles
    • Transceiver Work Group
    • CC SCA Advisory Council
